The Dayton Memorial Library has been a cornerstone of Regis University's academic support since 1966. We're now embarking on a project to create new memories of academic support, social connections and community belonging. The "Building Belonging: A Library Coffee Shop" project is not just about fueling up with coffee while studying. It's about fostering a welcoming environment where every student, family member and visitor feels like part of a vibrant and inclusive community. Our vision is to build a space that serves as an anchor for campus belonging, blending academic support and opportunities for social connection. By becoming a socio-academic hub for students, a library coffee shop will facilitate access to affinity groups, the broader community and academic support professionals, thus increasing students' sense of belonging.
A coffee shop within our library walls is not just an indulgence; it's a necessity that Regis students have repeatedly requested. This is our opportunity to create a space on campus for programming and engagement opportunities that cater to students’ unique needs — spaces where they can immerse themselves in their studies while savoring the camaraderie of their peers and families over a cup of steaming coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.
We envision a new chapter in the Dayton Memorial Library where our spaces respond to the change happening with Regis University’s enrollment. More than ever, our students come from diverse backgrounds — some commuting from nearby neighborhoods and towns, others traveling across continents, yet all united in their quest for academic success and connection. The library can be a resource for students with off-campus obligations and relationships who yearn for the traditional college experience.
By supporting our project, you'll help us create a space that enhances academic support and fosters a sense of belonging and connection that lasts a lifetime. Your gift will ensure the library remains at the heart of Regis University's vibrant and inclusive community.
