The Regis University Singers have been selected to give their Carnegie Hall debut in April 2025. They will perform a newly commissioned composition called Climate Mass, a 30-minute multi-movement work for chorus and orchestra composed by Regis' Dr. Loretta Notareschi with text by English professor Alyse Knorr. Climate Mass will receive its regional premiere in Colorado at Regis Resounds 2025 and the choral-orchestral version will be performed at Carnegie Hall, conducted by Dr. Raul Dominguez.
For a Regis student to perform at Carnegie, they must pay their way: airfare, lodging, meals, ground transportation, excursions, and their spot on the stage. The funds raised from this venture will go directly to students to lower the price. This concert has the potential for national impact in the field of choral music, as a social commentary piece on climate change has never been attempted on this scale. Compositions with social commentary topics have seen growth since 2020, but the topic of climate change remains untouched.
For post-concert impact, we anticipate this piece will gain traction quickly on other concert stages for advanced high school and college singers. It is expertly composed with these voices in mind to reach a wide audience. Additionally, this type of event promises to elevate Regis’ standing as a national musical institution and raise the value on the music education we offer our students. Help us send the Regis University Singers to Carnegie Hall so they may continue our mission, "Singing beauty into the world."
