Your generous contribution to our project, Elevating Undergraduate Research, will directly fuel student success by funding undergraduate research, scholarly engagement and travel to professional conferences. Contributions will be shared across three funds: the Undergraduate Research, Inquiry and Scholarly Engagement (URISE) Program, the Father Shelton Student Support Fund, and the Harry L. Taylor Fund for Student Research in Biology.
The URISE Program serves as a resource for all undergraduate students to engage fully in their Regis experience through research and creative pursuits. Students who have engaged in mentored research or creative work with faculty members benefit greatly from the opportunity to attend off-campus conferences to present their work and network with scholars in their field of interest. These experiences are transformational for students and are critical to their success as they graduate and enter the professional world.
The Father Charles Shelton Student Support Fund honors Father Shelton, a professor of psychology at Regis from 1988 to 2014. In addition to being an inspiration in the classroom, “Padre” also served for many years as chaplain for the Regis men’s soccer and baseball teams. Father Shelton was a beloved professor, mentor and Jesuit. He was known for providing encouragement, good humor, and unwavering support to his students and athletes.
The Harry L. Taylor Fund for Student Research in Biology is named for Dr. Harry Taylor, who taught in the biology department from 1965 to 2011. Dr. Taylor engaged students in research long before that became common practice at Regis. He has published at least 80 peer-reviewed scientific works, many with student co-authors. This fund honors Dr. Taylor’s commitment to academic scholarship and training undergraduate researchers. Your generous contribution will support the purchase of critical equipment and supplies, conference registration fees, travel costs to attend professional conferences and publication fees. In the past year, these funds have enabled students to travel to attend conferences across the country to present the results of their scholarly and creative projects.
By supporting Elevating Undergraduate Research during Regis Gives, you will help pave the way for impactful, life-changing experiences that empower students to make meaningful contributions to their fields.
