Gifts to The New Bike Fleet Campaign contribute to...
Regis University’s Bike & Ski Shop is looking to source a new set of bikes for the bike fleet. The new bike fleet would provide the Bike Shop Program more opportunities for bike trips to explore Denver and neighboring communities.
Currently, the bike models that the Bike Shop has are outdated and it is becoming difficult to source parts to fix them since they are no longer being manufactured. The New Bike Fleet Campaign would help buy hybrid bikes so that the bikes can ride on the road and on the trail for mountain biking trips as well.
In the past, there have been trips that have included intro to mountain biking, taste of Tennyson food and bike tour, bike to the climbing gym, and the Vail Flyer bike ride from Vail Pass to Frisco. The Outdoor Adventure Program runs the bike shop and bike trips and having a set of reliable bikes for the trips would help grow our Outdoor Adventure Program and Bike and Ski Shop as well.
Our fundraising goal is $5,000 to buy new bikes. With wholesale prices each, the goal is to find bikes that fit a hybrid model of half road bike and half mountain bike model for under $1,000 for each bike. The hybrid bikes have a flat handlebar for mountain biking, and allow for more upright riding while zooming around town.
The current model for the New Bike Fleet Campaign are the REI’s Co-op Cycle CTY 2.1. These bikes are durable, have hydraulic disc brakes, have front suspension, and uses mixed terrain tires. REI’s bikes have a large amount of inventory for replacement parts in case the bike need maintenance. The CTY 2.1 bike is competitively priced and is reliable
and versatile bike as well.
