Diagnostic US is used in physical therapy clinics to help diagnose musculoskeletal problems such as tendonitis, bursitis, muscle and/or ligament tears, and arthritic conditions. It is also used in various interventions such as training patients to contract core muscles and to assist with dry needling. It is also used for research purposes in faculty and student projects. The School of Physical Therapy presently has one diagnostic US machine that is used in the teaching of our students in their labs and also in our RegisCares clinic for patients. This machine needs to be upgraded at a cost of $15,000.00. It is five years old.
