Investing in Inquiry

Investing in Inquiry directly fuels student success by funding undergraduate research, scholarly engagement and travel to professional conferences. Contributions will be shared across three funds: the Undergraduate Research, Inquiry, and Scholarly Engagement (URISE) Program; the Fr. Shelton Student Support Fund; and the Harry L. Taylor Fund for Student Research in Biology.

Through the URISE Program all undergraduate students at Regis have the opportunity to work alongside faculty mentors, conducting research and presenting their findings at professional conferences, which also allows them the opportunity to network with scholars in their field of interest. These transformative experiences don't just enhance their education—they shape their careers, instilling the confidence and skills they need to succeed as they enter the professional world.

Named in honor of Father Charlie Shelton, a beloved professor and mentor at Regis, The Fr. Charlie Shelton Student Support Fund helps support students in need of financial assistance for their research and academic growth. For more than 25 years, Fr. Shelton was an inspirational figure both in the classroom and on the soccer field, where he served as chaplain for the men’s soccer and baseball teams. Known for his encouragement, humor and unyielding support, Fr. Shelton left a lasting legacy at Regis.

The Harry L. Taylor Fund for Student Research in Biology is named for Dr. Harry Taylor, a dedicated biology professor who, for over four decades, guided students through hands-on research. Dr. Taylor, a pioneer of student-led research at Regis, co-authored over 80 peer-reviewed scientific publications with his students. This fund honors Dr. Taylor’s commitment to academic scholarship and training undergraduate researchers.

Contributions to Investing in Inquiry will support purchase of critical equipment and research supplies, conference registration fees, travel costs to attend professional conferences and publication fees. In the past year, these funds have enabled students to travel to attend conferences across the country to present the results of their scholarly and creative projects.
