Make a lasting impact on the lives of 25 rising sixth grade students this summer by supporting the Porter-Billups Leadership Academy (PBLA). In collaboration with Lucky to Ride, we're thrilled to introduce an exciting new program that will empower young students to explore STEM concepts while gaining essential life skills.
This hands-on, STEM-based course teaches participants how a bicycle works, how to repair it and—most importantly—how to ride safely. It’s a fun and interactive way for students to apply their learning while developing a strong sense of accomplishment and responsibility. At the end of this multi-session course, each graduate will receive a bike they’ve worked on, along with a new helmet, lock and tool kit.
Not only will the students gain technical knowledge about bicycles, but they’ll also build character and resilience. The program emphasizes leadership, responsibility and relationship-building—skills that will serve them throughout their lives. The lessons learned during this course will stay with these students for years to come, as they pedal forward with the confidence and drive to overcome challenges and reach new milestones.
Our goal is to provide sixth graders with an empowering experience that blends education, fun and skill-building, all while instilling values of perseverance and hard work. The program will take place at local parks, trails, and neighborhood paths near Regis University, ensuring every child has the opportunity to practice their new riding skills in a safe and supportive environment.
About the Porter-Billups Leadership Academy
Since 1996, the PBLA at Regis University has been dedicated to cultivating the next generation of leaders through an innovative summer academy for students in grades 3-12. With a focus on character development and academic excellence, our students are exposed to a wide range of subjects—from human rights and social justice to financial literacy and STEM—while also building key life skills like managing relationships and outdoor education.
PBLA believes in nurturing the "whole child," which includes attention to socio-emotional wellbeing, mental health, nutrition and physical activity. Our holistic approach ensures that every student leaves our program better equipped to succeed, not only in the classroom but in life.
Your support will allow us to continue offering these transformative experiences and help us grow this impactful program. Together, we can provide students with the resources, education and opportunities they need to thrive and lead in their communities.
Donate today and give PBLA students the chance to pedal toward a future full of possibility!
