Sustainable-Caring-Inclusive
The Dayton Memorial Library is excited to support the Regis Community Closet, a new initiative designed to provide Regis community members with access to casual clothing and small housewares. In collaboration with student groups, the project aims to promote sustainability, offer essential items and create a safe and private space for all individuals seeking clothing, regardless of identity. This student-led project is shaped by their active involvement in the design, organization and ongoing maintenance of the closet. Located on the first floor of the library, the closet is stocked with donations from both the Regis community and external sources.
Housing the Regis Community Closet within the Dayton Memorial Library reflects the libraryβs commitment to creating an empowering, compassionate environment where individuals are supported in their personal growth, self-advocacy and well-being. The initiative embodies the values of Cura Personalis (care for the whole person) and People for and with Others by addressing both material needs and fostering self-worth. By providing clothing and essential items the closet affirms the dignity of each individual, offering support for the mind, body and spirit. This student-led project removes barriers, nurtures a sense of community and demonstrates solidarity with those facing economic hardship. Through this effort, the Regis community actively pursues justice, compassion and mutual care, reinforcing a culture of generosity that fosters a deeper sense of connection and support for all.
Donations through Regis Gives will fund the purchase of storage and display materials for the closet, as well as clothing items, to better serve the needs of the community.
