About

Regis University offers its students two unique study abroad opportunities as part of academic courses. The first is an immersive program offering students the opportunity to engage with social justice issues in Rwanda and Uganda, while fostering academic and cultural growth. Through a combination of research initiatives, field visits, online discussions and assignments, students critically examine nonprofit and nongovernmental organizations, emphasizing collaboration with local entities. This hands-on experience, along with intellectually stimulating discussions, encourages students to reflect on the complexities of social justice work in these regions. Additionally, the course provides a comprehensive understanding of the role of NGOs in the global fight for social change.

The program is life-changing but also costly, with expenses for tuition, flights and a facilitation fee totaling approximately $6,000 per student. To help offset this financial burden, we have launched a fundraising campaign to provide scholarships for students, particularly those from low-income backgrounds, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent access to this transformative experience.

Another immersive opportunity is the Study Abroad Program in Córdoba, Spain, which focuses on the history and culture of southern Spain. Students explore themes of multiculturalism and identity in a region once home to a harmonious coexistence of Muslims, Jews and Christians during the Islamic Golden Age. In collaboration with Universidad Loyola, this program includes coursework on the rich history of Andalucía, cultural excursions to Granada and Sevilla and vibrant local festivals. A key feature of the program is a homestay with local families, allowing students to practice Spanish and connect with the community.

This program also serves to increase opportunities for students from low-income, Hispanic backgrounds, many of whom may be traveling abroad for the first time. To ensure all deserving students can participate, we rely on donations to cover tuition, housing and program expenses. Your support helps students gain a global perspective and fosters personal and academic growth that will resonate throughout their lives.
