Regis University Prison Education Program

The Regis University Prison Education Program is built on a simple belief: every person deserves a chance to learn, grown and create a better future. Too many incarcerated individuals are shut out of higher education.

In partnership with the Colorado Department of Corrections and Limon Correctional Facility, Regis University brings high‑quality, college-level courses directly inside prison walls. Students gather in a dedicated classroom within the facility, where a Regis instructor teaches either in person or virtually. Over the course of a year, each student completes six liberal arts courses in consecutive, accelerated seven-week terms, earning up to 18 transferable college credits.

But what we offer goes far beyond credits. We offer hope, dignity, and the opportunity for a new path forward.

Research shows that individuals who participate in prison education programs are 43% less likely to return to prison. Education doesn’t just change a life – it changes the trajectory of an entire family and community. With your support, we can extend that impact even further.

When students are released, we provide them with a computer so they can continue their studies without interruption as they transition into life outside the facility. Regis University is actively expanding the program into a second year of coursework, and is preparing to launch new learning opportunities at the women’s correctional facility in Pueblo, CO.
