Gifts to Dominican Republic Justice Sojourn contribute to...
The Dominican Republic Sojourn (run by Service Learning) offers Regis College students the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of issues surrounding immigration, migrant worker rights, international politics and culture while experiencing the faith and generosity of people living amid the challenges of globalization. Your gift on Regis Gives Day will both support our students’ attendance on this eye-opening service trip and also help support the local needs of our Dominican host community.
The Dominican Republic Sojourn is offered 1-3 times per year with 12-20 student participants per trip. The program includes pre and post immersion classwork and offers students a hands-on connection to the global issues covered in the classroom. By living with members of marginalized communities, our students will gain the skills to address social challenges by learning to walk in solidarity with the individuals they meet.
In addition, this program also aims to help the host communities we serve by bringing critical health, education, and other supplies to the Dominican Republic. Your generosity can have a dramatic impact on the Regis students and the communities they will visit.
Below are just a few ways that your donation can help us do more:
- A donation of $25 could buy a soccer ball or other sporting supplies for Dominican children.
- A donation of $50 may provide books, writing utensils and other school supplies for a Dominican child for the year.
- A donation of $75 may provide a Dominican family with a critical in-home water filtration system.
- A donation of $250 could purchase important medical supplies for local Dominican clinics and hospitals.
- A donation of $350 may provide a scholarship that will keep a Dominican child in school for a year.
- A donation of $500 would cover one student’s room and board for the duration of the trip.
- A donation of $600 would cover the cost of round-trip airfare for one Regis Student.
Please consider a gift on Regis Gives Day and allow our students to unite in service for others with their participation in this service sojourn.
