Victim Advocacy and Violence Prevention (VAVP) is dedicated to creating a campus where every student feels safe, supported and empowered. As students navigate the challenges of relationships, sexuality and substance use—often for the first time—we provide vital resources and education to guide them through these pivotal moments. Through interactive programs and essential support, we help students make informed decisions that prioritize their health and well-being.
VAVP seeks funding to enhance programming and create even more opportunities for students to engage, learn and grow. Our cornerstone events—Consent Carnival in the fall and Wellfest in the spring—serve as essential platforms for fostering a culture of respect, empathy and care across our campus.
- Consent Carnival offers an exciting, hands-on way for students to explore healthy relationships, set boundaries and understand personal agency. This fun and engaging event empowers students with the knowledge and tools to protect themselves and others.
- Wellfest, held each spring before finals, is a day of self-care designed to help students manage stress, prioritize mental health and find balance as they prepare for exams. Through resources, activities and support, Wellfest promotes holistic well-being and reminds students that their mental health matters.
Additionally, VAVP aims to bring the Impact Playback Theater to campus, using performance to build empathy, foster deeper connections and encourage active listening. By strengthening these vital skills, we are helping to cultivate a compassionate campus culture where students look out for one another and create an environment where violence is less likely to occur. When students feel connected and supported, they are more likely to seek help, intervene in harmful situations and promote a safer campus for all.
Recognizing the critical link between substance use awareness and violence prevention, VAVP is also launching new initiatives to educate students about making safe and informed choices. The program will continue its strong participation in national awareness campaigns, such as Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month, ensuring that important conversations about safety and prevention remain at the forefront. Additionally, VAVP is committed to strengthening student and staff training to create a well-informed and proactive campus community.
Why This Matters
Students today face complex challenges when it comes to consent, wellness and substance use. Without accessible resources or spaces for meaningful conversation, many students struggle to make informed choices or ask for help when they need it most. A strong, connected community is the best safeguard against violence—and you can help make that possible.
When students feel supported, they are more likely to reach out for help, intervene when necessary and become active champions of a safer, more inclusive campus culture. Your donation will directly fund these critical programs, helping to create a campus where every student feels safe, valued and empowered to thrive.
